RC LASERS
The Club has an enthusiastic team of members who sail RC Lasers, a quarter size model of the Olympic class Laser dinghy. It is a strictly controlled one-design class that challenges sailors to match their sail selections with the ever changing conditions that our lake presents.
It's a never boring activity for participants and spectators, particularly when its a handicap race or a fun event when "special penalties" apply. The later being very popular at the end of a days racing.
Members sometimes sail at other venues and keep in touch via WhatsApp group, so please join our Team Laser if you're interested.
Each year a fun filled Summer & Winter RC Laser Club Series is held to help prepare sailors for State and National title events, which the Club stands ready to host. The RC Laser offers club members who usually sail ML45's or other classes, the opportunity if they wish to compete in a slightly more serious but always friendly way.
While the group sails to the ISAF racing rules of sailing, we do honour the club code of being friendly first and competitive second. Events are generally held on Tuesdays and Saturdays & some Sundays for two day title events.
Watch out for the first barbecue Saturday of each month and the Summer Thursday Evening Twilight Sailing activity which will always see the RC Lasers on the lake amongst the fleet.

The program includes
- Six Summer Tuesday Handicap Series Races rounds starting at 10:30am
- Five Tuesday Scratch Races also starting at 10:30am
- BBQ Event Days (1st Saturday each month & following Tuesday) with Scratch Racing
All at Mawson Lakes and all RC Sailors are welcome.

- Summer Handicap Series: Tuesdays at 10:30 --- 29 Oct 2024, 19 Nov, 17 Dec, 21 Jan 2025, 18 Feb & 18 March.
- Twilight Thursday Evening Mixed Fleet Sailing: 14 Nov 2024, 12 Dec, 13 Feb 2025 & 13 March
- Mawson Lakes Marathon: Thursday 16 January 2025 at 5.30pm. A mixed fleet with several courses. Open to RCLs and other classes from all SA clubs for a fun sail
- State RCL Titles, Mawson Lakes ... Date TBA
