Club Boat Shed

The club welcomes all members. Those who are content with cruising the waters of the Sir Douglas Mawson Lake in a very friendly and helpful environment.

We also sail into from the main lake into the Promenade lake by the shops. It makes for a very good and sometimes, brisk walk.

We also welcome those who are more competitively minded and choose to sail a set course near the boatshed, but always with the proviso it's friendly & social.

Club organised sailing takes place all day Tuesday and every Saturday from 9:30am until 4pm.

Our RC Lasers also sail every Wednesday from generally around 10am and on scheduled Sunday afternoons. Note: There are other publicaly organised groups (not connected with the Club) who sail every Wednesday morning, some Saturday mornings and every Sunday morning.

So if you are interested in a great way to relax, join us at at our main social cruising sessions at 1.00pm on any Saturday afternoon or from 10 am onwards on any Tuesday at The Boatshed on the lake.

Access is via First Avenue off The Parkway, Technology Park at Mawson Lakes.

Please introduce yourself, we don’t bite and really enjoy introducing newcomers or the just curious about sailing models, particularly yachts.  As to who can join, anyone! We have a membership age span from those in their thirties to those in their eighties, singles and couples, some in wheel chairs, some who need a little assistance and so on.

Our only criteria is that we seek members prepared to give it a go and enjoy themselves in a convivial atmosphere. Its social rather than intensely competitive. This is not "an angry super competitive old men" only domain.

We also welcome partners to come along even if they don't want to sail. When they get bored they can escape to the shops for some retail therapy or a coffee, but then they might be surprised to find some sailors having ventured into the Promenade Lake have also stopped for a coffee at the Boatdeck Cafe.

The wonderful advantage of our location in the commercial and residential centre of Mawson Lakes.
